Is Evox a good supplement brand in South Africa?

Evox is a mid-priced South African sports nutrition brand sold mainly through Dis-Chem. Its 100% Whey Advanced costs R670 for 908 g (about R738 per kg, October 2026), in line with USN and NPL on price per kg, but its product pages publish little: no certification, mostly image-only nutrition tables, and no ownership or founding details in the sources we checked.

Evox is a local brand with a broad range and mid-market prices. What we can say is limited by what the brand and its retailer publish. Prices are October 2026.

What does Evox sell?

ProductSize and priceNotes
100% Whey Protein Advanced908 g, R670; 2 kg, R1 43023 g protein per serving listed; scoop weight not stated
100% Premium Synergy Whey1.5 kg, R600no serving or protein figure in page text

The brand's site also lists an IsoFrost isolate (700 g) and a Night Time Casein, but we found no retailer price for them.

Where is Evox sold?

The brand site links straight to Dis-Chem Living Fit for purchase, and Dis-Chem is its main retailer. We did not find it in Clicks or Takealot listings in the sources checked.

What are Evox's strengths?

  • Mid-market pricing: the 908 g whey works out at R738 per kg, similar to NPL Platinum Whey and a little above USN BlueLab (R689).
  • A wide range, from whey and gainers to pre-workouts and aminos.
  • Strong Dis-Chem presence, so stock is easy to find.

What are the trade-offs?

  • Thin published data. Dis-Chem's pages show the nutrition table mostly as an image. For the Whey Advanced, the retailer page gives 23 g protein but no scoop weight, so we cannot calculate its cost per 30 g of protein.
  • No stated certification. We found no Informed Choice, Informed Sport or other third-party scheme on the pages we read. That does not mean the products are untested; it means we cannot verify it. Drug-tested athletes should choose a product whose batch is on a certifier's register (what Informed Sport means).
  • Ownership and founding date. Not published in the sources we checked.
  • Sweeteners. Not named in the page text we could read, so check the tub.

How does Evox compare with others?

On price per kg, Evox Whey Advanced (about R738) sits between USN BlueLab (R689) and NPL Platinum Whey (about R771). See USN vs Evox and the best whey protein comparison. For a sweetener-free alternative, ATP Fitness offers a short ingredient list but no published protein per serving or certification.

Who should see a professional?

If you have kidney disease, a milk allergy, or are under 18, speak to a doctor or dietitian before using any whey. Mass gainers add large amounts of calories and sugar; people with diabetes should take advice first.
