We publish two kinds of work.

The journal is reported features: training, food, hormones, alcohol, medicines and the habits that actually change how you feel. Pieces are written for South Africa, with local food, heat, sport and regulation in the story, and they close with a bottom line you can use.

The answer desk is a reference library. It answers the questions people ask about protein, creatine, collagen, pre-workout, hydration and vitamins, with dated Rand prices and the evidence behind the claim. As of 27 October 2026 the desk holds 330 answers, 15 comparisons, 270 products and 81 brands. Prices were observed that month. They are not live offers.

How the desk answers

• Answer first. Every page opens with a direct answer, then the detail.
• South African prices, dated and sourced. We name the retailer and the month, and we show cost per serving, per 30 g of protein, per 5 g of creatine or per 10 g of collagen.
• Evidence, not hype. We lean on position stands and systematic reviews and we say when the evidence is weak.
• Local context. Summer heat, Comrades and Two Oceans, school sport, SAIDS anti-doping rules, SAHPRA and local labelling law.

Independence

Healthnews24 is not a shop and not a brand channel. ATP Fitness appears only as one ordinary brand when a price or a label is being compared. It is not a partner, sponsor, owner or operator of this site. We do not accept payment for placement, we do not publish star ratings we have not verified, and every ranking shows its price maths and its trade-offs.
